ABOUT CLAIRE

England and Great Britain Deaf National Women’s player, Claire Stancliffe, has a very successful and inspiring career having won bronze medals at European Championships, World Championships, Deaflympics and more.

Claire has a bilateral sensorineural profound hearing loss in both ears and grew up in the hearing world. With parents who were big football fans, Claire was always found playing football in the park and eventually for her school teams. As she turned 18, Claire realised how much she was missing out on and research led to her finding the England and Great Britain Deaf Football squads. Claire has played for numerous mainstream teams such as Rushden and Diamonds Centre of Excellence, Northampton Town Ladies FC and presently St Ives Town Ladies FC.

Stancliffe is not just a footballer. A role model to anyone proving hard work takes you places. Her commitment to raise money to send squads to competitions at times where funding wasn’t readily available is unbeatable. Determination, passion, desire and hard work has established her as one of the most experienced deaf footballers in the country.

Alongside playing football, Claire has over 12 years experience as a sports coach, delivering PE, after school and holiday clubs in primary school. She is currently working in a fundraising role and as a social media executive. On top of this she has experience in public speaking and athlete visits. Claire has also contributed to a Sunday Times Best Seller, It's Ok Not to Feel Blue (and Other Lies) by Scarlett Curtis.
